Perfusion process can help improve the bioprocess efficiency. Compared with fed-batch, perfusion can significantly improve productivity and lower the production cost with smaller footprint and flexibility. Perfusion process is especially suitable for labile and hard-to-express molecules, such as recombinant proteins and multispecific antibodies. There are >20 commercial biologics using perfusion in GMP production.
